Hospitals have complex needs when evaluating lighting requirements. HUGO Lighting understands these needs and have products specially developed for these applications.
Within the healthcare environment, there are both standard and specialised working areas all requiring differing needs. From Bathrooms and Hallways to complex Operating Theatres the needs change. This must be considered when selecting the light source.
By selecting LED fittings, this allows energy saving results while the healthcare facilities are operating, allowing savings to be allocated to other areas of need.
Areas of importance
Cyanosis occurs when oxygen levels in the blood are depleted (blueish discolouration on the skin). Causes can be temperature, heart failure, lung disease or even smothering.
This is often found during the observation process and is important for the medical staff to be able to reliably detect this quickly and take the appropriate action.
The Red spectrum in a light fitting increases the chance to highlight this condition. If the output is low the skin appears darker and the patent may be diagnosed as cyanosed. If the output is too high it may disguise the diagnosis.
A light fitting which is compliant for medical purposes (COI) must have an index <3.3 as tested against AS/NZS 1680.2.5
