OFFICE LIGHTING

Workspace transformations can enhance the environment for employees and customers. By incorporating direct and indirect lighting options the space is allowed to create and enhance moods in the environment.

HUGO lighting has a large range of lighting options which will allow spaces to feel comfortable for task and social settings.

When considering office lighting you should always consider Glare (UGR rating less than 19), Natural Day Light, Sensors (movement and Lux levels) and the Mood and Feel you would like to achieve in the desired space. Future proofing is also an aspect to be considered as hot desks are becoming more popular in some environments.

Cooler white colour of 4,000K is generally used as this provides an increased amount of concentration during office tasks while warmer colours of 3,000K are used to provide a more relaxed environment.

Recommended lighting is between 300-500 lumens. With spaces where there are no other sources of bright light around 300 lumens are best, when the office area is already bright or has different lighting, brighter lights (400-500 lumens) would be more suitable.

Within open plan layouts of computers, low glare or UGR<19 is recommended to ensure glare is minimised for staff while seated at their computers. LED Backlit panels are recommended for these applications due to the ease of install into a grid ceiling. These can be dimmable and controlled by sensors to ensure the correct lux level of light is achieved during the changes of the day with sunlight movement.

Office lighting standards recommend a normal workstation requires 500 lumens per square metre. Lighting levels for working heights are based on 1m from the floor (generally desk height).
